The Stanley Street Quarter in Liverpool’s city centre, is the officially recognised gay area. The area encompasses Stanley Street, Davies Street, Cumberland Street, Sir Thomas Street, Dale Street, Temple Street & Lane, Victoria Street, Hackins Hey, Leather Lane and Eberle Street.
Liverpool has the UK’s largest LGBT population, estimated at over 94,000. The Stanley Street Quarter is the only officially recognized gay village in Britain. Britain’s national tourism agency, acknowledges Liverpool as one of Britain’s most notable gay cities, and recognises the growing investment in the Gay Quarter.
