The gay scene in Oaxaca is located mostly in the Centro district. Oaxaca (full name Oaxaca de Juárez), is the capital and largest city of the Mexican state of Oaxaca. Located in the Central Valley region of the state, in the foothills of the Sierra Madre. It relies heavily on tourism, which is based on its large number of colonial-era structures as well as the native Zapotec and Mixtec cultures and archaeological sites. The city, along with the archaeological site of Monte Albán, are a World Heritage Site. It is also the home of the month-long cultural festival called the “Guelaguetza”, which features Oaxacan dance from the seven regions.
